The Smell of Spoiled Milk

This post is better late than never but I absolutely could not let this memory slip the blog! Our school's Spring Fundraiser is a 5K run and Carnival, The Bear Bolt. Well, they thought they could raise a lot of money to have some brave teachers take pies in the face or karaoke during the carnival. There was no way I was going to SING so I thought a pie in the face was the better or dare I say "easier" option. I think I will think again next time!!!!!

Logan did use 2 of his tickets to throw a pie at me (how dare he!!!) but he missed. Well, the PTO ladies felt a little sorry for him so they gave him his very own pie and let him WALK UP AND HIT ME WITH IT! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!! Yes, it hurt but I laughed so hard I cried whip cream tears(yes, it was spoiled by this point) and almost wet my pants. It was so funny and a fun memory we won't soon forget. I guess that is one of the benefits of being a teacher's kid! Notice that you cannot see my face in this picture. It literally is being flattened by this pie...OUCH!

This was a picture before the fun (pie in the face). The race was fun. Logan ran/walked the 3 miles with his friend and I pulled the little ones on the mile trail. (Yes, Sam is looking kind of shabby. I am right on that!!)
Addie was star struck when she saw these high school cheerleaders.
It was fun and lots of money was raised for the school so it was worth it! We have a great PTO that supports us and I get almost anything I need for my classroom. I also have a son that benefits as well. It was the least I could do, at least for this year...even if I did smell like SPOILED MILK for a few days after SEVERAL showers!

Sam's Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Sam's 1st birthday today with family! We celebrated Dr. Seuss style. We had a big time but poor Sam was not feeling that great. Oh well...at least we got some cute pictures!

He is 1! He just looks so big!

Here we are, ready for the party...

Here is the cake! It was 5 layers and we still have lots left over. Again, don't laugh at it. It was so much fun to make! I really do enjoy making them. It's stress free with a happy ending!
I made Sam his own smash cake (that he was not very into) because I just knew he was going to dive right in. (I realize the picture is sideways. It is not saved this way but blogger is not uploading it any other way. Oh well...just tilt your head to the right.)
Sam really enjoyed the presents until he fell out of the chair and bumped his head. OUCH!

Now it's time to sing and dive right into the cakes...
Can you find Sam in this picture? You can tell how sleepy he is at this point...poor guy!
Happy Birthday to you...
Taste test...
Not so sure...
He finally gave up on trying to like it! I have no idea how this is possible. Could he possibly not like cake?
He definitely liked the ice cream. I think next year we will look into an ice cream cake for the birthday boy!
We had a great weekend! Stay tuned to see why I smelled like spoiled milk last night. It's a funny, funny story!!!

Happy Birthday Sam

Today is Sam's 1st Birthday! What a GREAT and SPECIAL day for us! We love our Sam and could not be any prouder!

Here are 12 things about Sam: (He hasn't had his 1 year check up yet so I will share those stats later.)
1. He is still known as "Sam I Am" or "Sam Man".
2. He really likes to play with his big Tonka truck or fire truck because he can walk with them.
3. He also really likes to play with cars. He will even make the "vroom" sound when he is pushing one around. He also really likes to play with anything he can pull out of our kitchen cabinets!! :)
4. He is SO CLOSE to walking. He took a little step for me the other night. I was happy to at least say I saw a first step. He is going to take off any day now!
5. His favorite foods are cheese and fruit. He is a pretty good eater. He did not like his #1 pancake this morning though! Oh well! At least we got a cute picture! :)
6. He really likes music. He has a cute little dance he will do when he hears a rhythm of any kind.
7. He is good sleeper. He is in bed by 7:30 pm and will sleep until 6:30 am. He still takes 2 naps and sleeps with a burp cloth and his pacifier. Yes, we will start working on NO pacifier in the next month or so.
8. He is drinking out of a sippy cup now...no more bottles!!!
9. He really enjoys being outside and he has just started to enjoy the swing. He used to not like that at all.
10. He is a Logan and Addie follower. If they are making noise, he is making noise with them.
11. He is a snuggly baby boy. When he wakes up in the morning, he will lay his head on my shoulder. When I get home from school, he will lay his head on my shoulder. When I rock him at night, he lays his head on my shoulder. He will crawl into our laps and lay his head down on us. He is just sweet, sweet, and sweet!
12. Sam LOVES his daddy in the sweetest way. They have their own little "language" of sorts. David makes a certain beat (it's funny) but Sam automatically starts moving to his beat. He won't do it for me. David and Sam have a very sweet bond. I do think it is very special for them to be home together!
**Logan helped me come up with these 12 things.
We are looking forward to another year of fun with our Baby Sam! Happy 1st Birthday to SAM!

Come back soon for pictures from his birthday celebration. We are off to baseball and the LES Bear Bolt!

What A Catch!

David spent the day fishing for smallmouth bass on Dale Hollow with his buddy Pate. Look at what he caught! It weighed 4 lbs and 20 1/2 inches long. Way to go Daddy!!!

Super Kids

I am having too much fun looking back at old pictures these days! It just makes me smile!
Addie is wearing David's jammies from when he was a baby. I have a picture somewhere with Logan in them but this will have to do for now...

Now this is the picture that inspired this post. Our Super Sam with his Daddy's jammies on...

What SUPER KIDS we have been blessed with!

Sam's Baptism

We had a big morning this morning. Our Sam was baptized and we joined our church. We are so blessed! What a great day!

I thought I would dig out the picture from when David, Logan, and Addie were all baptized in Lebanon. This was a great day too!!!
