Found a Peanut, Found a Peanut, Found a Peanut in ADDIE'S NOSE!!!!!! (Singing to the tune of Found a Peanut)
That's right...let me tell you all about it!
It was last Monday night. Monday was the first day of the last week of school before a whole week off for Thanksgiving. It was a day that I woke up praying that I could just make it through one week. That's all I had to do! I was battling, and had been battling for about 2 weeks, a terrible cold that left me coughing non-stop and sounding like a man. I was exhausted! Oh...if I could only make it through the week!
By Monday evening, I was thankful I had made it through the day and counting down only 4 more days of school. We came home and I started dinner. Addie wanted a snack so I gave her a little bag of peanuts. It was about 10 minutes later, just after I got the chicken in the oven, that sweet Addie comes into the kitchen, holding her nose saying the peanut hurts. It took me a minute to really understand that she had really put a peanut up her nose...seriously!!!! So, I try to get it out but I only end up jamming it up there even more. After a call to the pediatrician, I frantically take the chicken out of the oven (still mostly raw) and turn the veggies on the stove off. We get coats on and head to the doctor's office to see if they have any better luck. Daddy meets us there and we are greeted by the nurse first who was unsuccessful in the "peanut digging" game. Poor Addie is screaming at this point and I'm sure she was wondering why in the world she had stuck that thing in her nose, something I had been wondering from the start! Next, we see the doctor who digs some more but has no luck! So, after paying our $20 co-pay and leaving with the peanut still jammed up the nose, we head to the ER. At this point, you can actually feel the peanut next to Addie's eye. Triage sees her and then we wait and wait and wait and wait...until she finally starts sneezing and Daddy gets a great idea. He has her blow her nose hard and then harder until the peanut, wouldn't you know, finally comes out on it's own!!! That's right...the peanut came out on it's own after 2 hours of waiting at the ER but we of course had seen triage so we also have the lovely ER co-pay as well. Oh well, I was just happy to have the peanut in the Kleenex and to be leaving the ER without any sedation or major suction. Before we headed home, we had to run by and pick up Logan from David's parents who are the greatest!!! That went great, as Pop warmed us up some soup that was HEAVENLY!!! Things got a little crazy again when we went to head home. I don't want to go into too much detail as I really can't believe I did it. I'll just tell you that it involves the bumper of my mother-in-law having a crack in it due to a sleepy mommy backing up only thinking of getting home and getting the family in bed. (I'm Sorry, I'm Sorry, I'm Sorry!!! I have the BEST mother-in-law) So, we finally head home to the raw chicken on top of the stove, get the kids in bed, and I think I finally hit the bed by midnight...coughing and wondering if that really just happened and if I would really make it through the week.
Well, I made it through the next day, bringing a lot of laughter to my friends at school. The kids made it too. Here they are, acting like Indians, the night after our sweet Addie put a peanut up her nose. You cannot even tell it in this picture. I am hoping this is something she will not forget, thus she will NEVER try anything like this again.

I'm happy to report that I am entering this post on the 2nd day of my week off. I MADE IT!! The finale of the week was Logan's Thanksgiving Program. It made the week a great one for me, regardless of the "peanut digging" night, the non-stop coughing, and the absolute exhaustion I was experiencing. I have to say Logan was the cutest Indian Man and he was the light at the end of my tunnel.
