First week at home...

We have made it through our first full week at home with 3 kids. It's been a great week! Amazingly enough, I cannot complain too much about lack of sleep as Sam has only been waking up once in the night. Of course, some nights have been longer than others but for the most part, I can nurse him and he goes right back to sleep! Logan and Addie are doing good. Logan wants to hold Sam all the time and Addie is always wanting to hug and kiss him and says "I love Baby Sam" all the time. All three of them are just so sweet! Here are some pictures from our first week at home.

This is one of my favorites! Logan loves to read and he is excited to read to Baby Sam as he has figured out he is a great listener. Here he is reading "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish".

He's Here!

Sam Cooper arrived Friday morning at 10:36. He weighed 8 lbs 4 oz and was 21 inches long. Logan and Addie are SO PROUD and are great with him! We are all home and doing good! I just wanted to post some quick pictures of our new blessing...

First night at home with big brother...
Sam with his buddy "Cooper" who was born on the same day. Nana and Pop took Logan and Addie to Build A Bear on Friday and they made this for Sam. It is even sweeter when you squeeze his arm and hear Logan and Addie say together, "We love you Baby Sam!"

Playing Dress Up...

It's always fun to play dress up but it's even more fun when Logan and Addie play dress up together. You see, she was the princess and he was King Spiderman who had to save The 12 Dancing Princesses.

I guess King Spiderman lost interest in the dancing princesses. Suddenly, Addie was running through the house while screaming and crying and I could not imagine what was the matter until I saw this...Spiderman as George Bush??

One week to go...

but who's counting anyways??

We are ready for Baby Sam! We are all excited but all a little anxious. Addie has been carrying a baby around non-stop these days. She is going to be a great help, or so I hope. I gave her a snack the other day and walked back into the kitchen to find Baby Katie in the high chair, sharing a snack with Addie. It was just too sweet! Logan is so sweet too. I told him that next Friday he would get to meet Baby Sam and he got a priceless look on his face and said, "Oh no...he is going to be so small. I am going to have to work really hard to make sure he is safe and happy. He better not hurt you mommy!" Seriously, he seems to be very worried about me. I think it is very sweet but I don't want him to worry about that! I just keep assuring him we will all be fine! Oh how I love my Logan!

We do have a scheduled c-section for next Friday, March 20 but he could come SOONER and that would be just fine with me. I went to the doctor again today and things are moving along but moving along SLOWLY so I have a feeling we will last another week. I can't wait to post pictures of our sweet boy! I have lots of other things to post as well. I need to play blog catch up before Sam gets here or I know I will never get caught up! Oh well...I'm sure that will be the story of our life for a while!

LOGAN

Just had to share some fun things happening with our little man...

A couple of nights ago, I was laying in bed with Logan before bedtime and we were just talking. This is one of those conversations I just don't want to forget...

Logan: "Mommy, I'm going to give you a toy to swallow. Not a very big one but a fun one."
Me: "Ok. Why would you want me to do that?"
Logan: "Well, Baby Sam is just getting bored in there and he needs something to play with."

I smiled and laughed but felt his sweetness and thoughtfulness. He is SO EXCITED about being a big brother. I honestly think he is having a little anxiety as the big day approaches but he is so excited...he can hardly stop thinking of it. He can hardly wait to share his toys with Sam and he has made it clear that Sam CAN have his room, only when he (Logan) goes away to college. Like I said, he has been thinking about it non-stop. Hmm...does this sound like anyone else we know?? Is there a such thing as being too thoughtful??

Oh...Logan had a big first. He lost his first tooth on Tuesday!! He is so proud!! The permanent tooth has already grown in behind it. We have been referring to him as "shark bite" but the baby tooth finally started to loosen up. He just happened to have his dental appointment on Tuesday and David convinced the dentist to just pull it while we there. Logan wanted so badly to pull the tooth but he was just too scared since this was his first one and he had no idea what to expect. He was worried about what would happen to the root, of all things!!! So, the dentist took care of that one for us. The toothfairy made her first appearance in our house on Tuesday night. Logan wrote her a sweet note that said "i hop you wood bring it" (translation: "I hope you would bring it"). I had no idea what he meant by this but he cleared it up for me. He wrote the note in green and green = money so when he said "it", he was referring to money. He also drew a beautiful picture of the toothfairy on the back, wings and all. He woke up the next morning and was happy as could be to find $2. As a matter of fact, he took the $2 for show and tell to school. He also told me that he opened one eye when she came into his room and she looked a lot like Tinker Bell to him, only a little smaller. He said she sparkled. I took it as a compliment!!!!

There is so much to love about this little boy!! Yes, he needs to understand and know everything or he is easily frustrated!! The hard thing is that he just cannot possibly understand and know everything but we are working on it. He reminds me so much of David. He is 100% BOY!! Oh how I LOVE THIS BOY!! He lights up our world in the best way!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Addie

Today was the day that our little Addie turned 3 and what a sweet and fun day it was!! I don't have time to post all of the party pics. Addie had a lot of b-day fun that started on Friday with a party at Mrs. Brandi's and it all ended with a bang at Chuck E Cheese today!! Oh what fun and those pictures will come. For now, I'm going to post pictures from the birthday girl's birthday breakfast and present from us...

A Dora Bicycle was the big present this year and this 3 year old was so excited! Addie is REALLY into princesses right now but she is also really into Dora and Diego, thank goodness! I couldn't resist this cute bike with the Dora backpack on the front and we were happy to buy something other than princesses!! Logan topped it off by drawing a map and sticking it in the backpack. What a thoughtful big brother!!!

" Look at me everybody...I'M 3...I even have a chocolate chip number 3 on my pancake!!!!! "

So...in case you are interested, I thought I would post 3 things that I LOVE about my 3 year old...
1. I love that she will walk up to me at the most random times and say "I love you, Mommy"!!
2. I love that she is always asking "Where's my Wogan??" She loves her big brother, at least most of the time.
3. I love that if she starts to cry or get sad, all you have to say to her is "I bet you can't smile, Addie!!" and then a smile and giggle instantly comes across her face. She just can't help herself when it comes to smiles and giggles!! She is such a happy, sweet, fun-loving bundle of joy!!!!
I am so blessed that God has given us this little girl to love and nurture!! It's an adventure and we have so enjoyed these past 3 years with her!!
Mommy and Daddy love you Miss Adelyn Rae Dodd!!!!

Baby Update

Well, it's just after 4 am and I have been awake since 2 am. I've done some reading but I was having to sit too still and my hips were hurting so I decided to give my blog a makeover...how fun! Now that I'm done with that, I thought I might actually blog, seeing how it has been 2 weeks since I have! Instead of blogging more pictures of our sweet kids, I thought I would share some thoughts and updates about our soon to be here Baby Sam.

I am 35 weeks pregnant and we do have the c-section scheduled for March 20 (the first day of Spring and the day before my mom's birthday...a great day!) but I will be perfectly happy if he decides to come sooner. Yes, I am still working and yes, I am totally worn out. I absolutely don't want to complain though because I feel very blessed to be carrying another healthy baby boy and to have another healthy pregnancy, thus far. I would have loved to have gone out on early maternity leave as I am in pain and very uncomfortable after being on my feet everyday, all day long. However, I am so healthy that I just couldn't get a doctor's note because there is no medical reason...and I don't want the high blood pressure, etc. that goes along with bed rest so I am counting my blesssings!! (I would like to say that being 8 months pregnant and this being my 3rd pregnancy is a medical reason to me...but that is just me!) Anyways, I only have 4 weeks left and I know I can make it! I have started having contractions...just mild, not consistent ones but they do make me very uncomfortable and some have been intense. I had them all through the day yesterday at school and that was not fun at all! I am not sleeping right now because I can't get comfortable and when I do get comfortable, I usually then feel a contraction. I'm just to the point where I know this is just part of it and I know it is all worth it but I'm just ready to get this show on the road! Wait, am I really ready though? Not really! I have a lot of baby laundry to do, the baby room isn't done, and I haven't packed a hospital bag yet...this is definitely my 3rd pregnancy! When am I supposed to find the time to do it?? Oh well, it will get done...at least I hope! Oh...we still haven't come up with his full name yet. Yes, his name is going to be Sam but he still doesn't have a middle name to go with his sweet first name. David said the other day that we are going to let the family vote on Sunday at Addie's birthday party. (Yes, Addie is turning 3 on Sunday...my little girl is going to be 3...oh my!!!!) I think this is a great idea seeing as how we are having no luck. We have some ideas so I think we are going to give 3 choices and see what the majority rules unless we decide on our own before Sunday.

Anyways...I guess I should end this post now. I really just meant for it to be a little update but I think I might have vented more than anything. Oh well...I really am so excited to meet Baby Sam...we all are for that matter, the kids especially. Logan and I were talking about Easter the other day and I told him that Sam was going to be here for Easter and he would be able to go see the Easter bunny with us. Logan's face just lit up and he just stared at me for a few long seconds! It was priceless! He told me he was going to ask the Easter Bunny to bring Sam a firetruck he could chew on...funny stuff!! And then there is Addie who is still the princess. She is totally convinced that she has Baby Sam in her tummy as well. We have to be very careful around her tummy because she is very protective and will be sure to let us know if we have hurt her Baby Sam.

Ok...it is time I stop my rambling. Please check back soon as I will update as anything changes with Baby Sam but I will also post pictures of the birthday girl and her big weekend!!
